Frances Smith, President
Frances Smith is a native of Iowa, where she graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in English. She has taught in Iowa, Wyoming, Oklahoma and Texas as well as for the U.S. Army Schools in Germany. Frances also has an MA in Education from the University of Wyoming and a Doctorate in teacher education from the University of Houston. She has taught in Cy Fair ISD for 18 years, and has been a member of TSTA/NEA for all 18 years. She was elected Vice President of the district Cy Fair chapter in 2001 and served for 2 years, and was elected President in 2003, a position she has served in since. She has served as TSTA Region 3B President since 2006. She is now also in her second year as an NEA Board of Directors Member, Place 1. Frances finds great fulfillment in assisting members so that their rights as employees are protected.
Mary Stoner, Vice President
Mary Stoner began her career as an educator in Washington, Louisiana in 1972. This native of Newport, Rhode Island then taught in Opelousas, Louisiana and Beaumont, Texas before moving to Cypress, Texas where she has been a CFISD teacher for 28 years. She has held the positions of both department chair and team leader. She is currently active in such organizations as the Campus Performance Objectives Committee (CPOC), School Advisory Council (SAC), Community Council and Raise Your Hand Texas. Mary has always been associated with the teacher unions. She represented teachers in Beaumont as an Association Representative (AR) for TSTA before moving to Cypress. In Cy Fair she has been an active organizer for over 20 years. She attended the National Labor Institute in Washington, DC, innumerable leadership courses, and most recently the NEA Western Regional Conference in New Mexico. Mary remains committed to helping teachers achieve the recognition and professional respect they deserve for the outstanding service they perform.
Glorimar Yace, Secretary
Glorimar Yace was born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico and attended University of Puerto Rico- R.U.M. In 1990, she graduated with Honors and received a Bachelor of Arts and Science. Mrs. Yace came to Texas in 1991 and started her career as a teacher in 1999 in Conroe ISD, where she taught second grade for one year. In 2000, Mrs. Yace was hired as a first grade teacher at Reed Elementary in Cy-Fair, where she taught for two years. Seven years ago, Mrs. Yace was transferred to Lieder Elementary, also in Cy-Fair, where she is very excited of being part of the Lieder Leopards and be able to serve the bilingual community. She is currently teaching all subjects as a second grade bilingual teacher. Out of the school environment, Glorimar is also a Karate Instructor and had being involved in Martial Arts for the last 8 years, where she had achieved 1st Dan Black belt. Mrs. Yace is a proud mother of one son, who is currently attending middle school in Cy-Fair district. She is being a member of TSTA for the last four years and is part of the TSTA Ambassador graduated class of 2009, where she received training in legal issues and other subjects related to education. Mrs. Yace is very proud of being part of the TSTA organization and to be able to help other educators.
Richard Martin, President-Education Support Professionals
Richard Martin was originally from the Catskill mountains in upstate New York. He was was transferred to Texas with the United States Air Force in 1975. After completion of duty, he earned a degree in carpentry and cabinet making from a technical school in Houston. He has been with Cy-Fair I.S.D. for 21years working out of the maintenance center. He has been a TSTA/NEA member for approximately 20 years, and is the President of the Education Support Professional group of TSTA.
Terry Huckaby, High School Representative
Terry Huckaby graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelors of Science in biology and kinesiology, and a Masters of Education in biomechanics and physiology. He taught in East Texas for seven years before coming to Cy Fair ISD. He has taught at Langham Creek High School for the last 10 years. He has been a member of NEA for most of his seventeen years of teaching, and feels it is the best teacher organization in the land, hands down. Terry would like to mention that it has been a great pleasure for him to work with the fantastic members and leadership of the Cy Fair TSTA/NEA, and he enjoys serving Cy Fair teachers as a representative of TSTA/NEA.
Sheila Wolf, Middle School Representative
Sheila Wolf has been a teacher in Texas public schools for 25 years, most of the time in Cy Fair ISD. She has been married 32 years and is the mother of four children, all graduates of Cy Fair High School, and the proud grandmother of three. She enjoys working with children and with TSTA/NEA, assisting her fellow coworkers within the district.
April Lemmon, Membership Chair
April Lemmon has taught school, both public and private, for about 26 year years in Arizona and Texas. She is currently a fifth grade math teacher at André Elementary. April has been involved with TSTA/NEA for almost 20 years. She feels the only way to improve the public school system and help future generations of children is to participate in the process that determines how schools are run.
Margaret Brown, Social Events Chair
Margaret Brown has been a professional educator for 38 years and a member of TSTA/NEA. She has worked in Cy Fair ISD for 25 years, spending the majority of that time in the science department. She has sponsored the Science Olympiad, assisted with the Hispanic Organization for Leadership & Achievement (HOLA) and worked on numerous committees such as Personnel Services, Cougar Paws and the district Calendar Committee. She joined TSTA many years ago, and for the past five years has been active as a TSTA association representative from Cy Creek High School. She has served on the district TSTA/NEA Board through presenting trainings, organizing social events and representing TSTA at school board meetings. In July 2009 she represented Cy Fair at the NEA Representative Assembly in San Diego, California. If you attend a TSTA social or meeting, she will be glad to welcome you to the top educational organization representing Texas educators.
